🎓 Bonner Springs High School is celebrating some incredible scholarship opportunities for students! VU Scholarships is a program designed to match high school students with provisional scholarship offers from partner colleges and universities before they even apply—similar to early athletic scholarship offers, but for academic achievement. Students still complete each school’s application and admission process, but this early insight helps them see their potential and plan their futures with confidence. Thanks to a partnership between VU Scholarships, BSHS, and the generous support of the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Education Foundation, our Juniors and Seniors were able to participate in this impactful opportunity and were collectively offered an incredible $342,832,658 in potential scholarships! 🎉 We are so proud of our students for their hard work and excited for the doors this will open for their futures. Keep striving, Braves—great things are ahead!

At this month’s Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon, the Chamber continued its partnership with USD 204 to sponsor the Teacher of the Month program — recognizing outstanding educators who go above and beyond for their students, schools, and community. 🍎 We are proud to join the Chamber in celebrating Kyle Razak, Math Teacher at Clark Middle School and Head Track & Field Coach at Bonner Springs High School, as the November Teacher of the Month! 🎉 Mr. Razak has been with USD 204 for 24 years and is known for his dedication to helping students build confidence both in and out of the classroom. Whether he’s teaching complex math concepts or leading student-athletes on the track, Mr. Razak consistently demonstrates passion, leadership, and a commitment to student success. 👏 Congratulations, Mr. Razak, on this well-deserved honor — and thank you for making such a positive impact on our students and our district! 🧡

Beginning Nov. 17th, in order to create a safer dismissal for all of our students, we will implement a new afternoon dismissal format. In addition to the following information, please see the attached diagram/map.
- Car riders will now be picked up behind the school. Please line up on the road located behind the building (enter on West Kump Avenue) and students will exit the rear doors and meet their rides there.
- Traffic will will then move north, loop around in the parking lot and proceed to exiting on Kump Avenue.
- The front road of the school will be reserved for buses only from 2:30 to 3:10 PM. No cars will be permitted to enter that area during this time.
- To ensure smooth dismissal, all other students will use the East (front doors) exits. Student drivers will leave the parking lot to the east (toward Bluegrass).
- Signs will be posted showing “One Way,” “Do Not Enter,” “No Left Turn,” and “No Right Turn” where applicable

🧡🖤🎵 Huge congratulations to our 14 incredible Bonner Springs High School BRAVES selected for the NEKMEA District Honor Band & Choir! 🎶 Out of 45 Kansas high schools and hundreds of talented musicians, our students stood out — and we couldn’t be more proud! BSHS brought 28 amazing musicians to auditions in Eudora over the weekend, and now we’re ready to cheer them on as they perform in Topeka on December 6. We cannot wait to hear their performance alongside their peers from Northeast Kansas. It’s a Great Day to be Brave! 🧡🖤🎵

✨ Bonner Springs High School made history by hosting the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Fall Leadership Conference for the very first time! FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young leaders develop skills for life through career preparation, community service, and personal growth. This exciting event brought together middle school and high school students from Tonganoxie to Atchison, Osawatomie, the KC Metro, and everywhere in between — for a day filled with leadership, learning, and connection. With nearly 300 students and 26 advisors in attendance, participants enjoyed an inspiring keynote and eight engaging workshops across four rotations. With help from both the BSHS and CMS chapters, our very own BRAVES, Braelyn Kimberly and Inali Meyer, each led workshops and helped guide the day’s events. It was an unforgettable experience celebrating leadership, collaboration, and FCCLA pride! 🧡

👻 No tricks, just treats for Bonner Springs High School students! Today, 35 BSHS students got behind the wheel of real construction equipment at Dozer Day, an interactive event that lets students operate real construction equipment and explore careers in the industry. Hosted by NUCA Greater Kansas City, Dozer Day offers students a unique opportunity to learn how massive machines work, connect with local employers, and gain firsthand insight into the skills that power our community’s infrastructure. 🚜 Beyond the excitement of driving dozers and excavators, the event is intended to inspire curiosity about construction and engineering careers—helping students see pathways to high-demand, high-skill jobs. We're proud to see BRAVE students engaging in this dynamic, educational experience that builds both confidence and career awareness — proving there’s nothing spooky about building bright futures! 🎃

At a recent Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce luncheon, the Chamber announced its continued partnership with USD 204 to sponsor the Teacher of the Month program. Each month, this program recognizes an educator for their outstanding service and commitment to students. 👏 Teachers are selected for their ability to consistently inspire students to reach higher levels of thinking and achievement, motivate them to exceed expectations both academically and socially, lead within their schools, and serve the community. They also demonstrate a passion for teaching, respect for their colleagues, and a dedication to making a positive impact on their students’ lives. This month, we are proud to join the Chamber in recognizing Heather Marmon, Special Education Teacher at Bonner Springs High School, as the October Teacher of the Month! 🎉 Congratulations, Heather, and thank you for your exceptional work and devotion to your students and our district! 🍎

Together, Rick, Jerry, and Lisa reflect on decades of shared commitment to students and the community. They talk about the Foundation’s incredible growth under Dr. Abbott’s leadership, the power of giving back, and how community support continues to open doors for USD 204 students.
