At the September 8th Board of Education meeting, Hilary Koehn from the Kansas Parents as Teachers Association and Lisa Williams from the Kansas Office of Early Childhood presented Melissa Lewis with the 2026 Parent Educator of the Year award!

Koehn said, "For more than 11 years, Melissa has been the heart of the USD 204 Parents As Teachers program as the Parent Educator. As the sole parent educator serving in this community, she has carried an incredible responsibility with consistency, compassion, and a genuine commitment to families, and it shows!

Over those years, Melissa has touched the lives of hundreds of families building relationships, one home visit at a time, and has helped parents feel confident as their first and most important teacher."

Congratulations, Melissa!

Student-Athletes,

Due to today’s extreme heat, all practices scheduled for 3:00 PM have been moved indoors. We will continue monitoring weather and wet-bulb conditions throughout the day. A wet-bulb reading will also be taken at 6:00 PM to help us evaluate evening conditions for practices and competitions throughout the week.

Today’s Practice Schedule:

Soccer: 7:00 PM practice. Be ready by 6:45 PM. You must go home after school and return for practice. You may not remain on campus. Bring water and arrange transportation to and from practice.

Football: Indoor practice from 5:30–8:30PM. When/If conditions allow, we will move to outdoor practice. You may stay after school, but you must remain with Coach Mays in the locker room until practice. Students may not walk around the building. Please arrange transportation home.

Tennis: Report to the BSHS gym immediately after school.

Cross Country: Report to room 102 (Coach Toland's room). Coach Toland will take you to the YMCA. Five treadmills have been reserved.

Golf: Report to the Braves Fieldhouse immediately after school.

Because extreme heat is expected throughout the week, practice times and locations may change daily. Please listen carefully to announcements and check with your coach each day.

Student-Athletes: Please download Apptegy to your Chromebook so you can receive important communication and updates from your coaches.

Stay hydrated, stay informed, and stay safe!
