The 2024-25 school year starts Friday, August 16th for all K-12 USD 204 students, and the first day for McDanield Preschool is Monday, August 19th. Here are a few reminders to help you prepare for the start of the new school year.

Enrollment
Enrollment for returning students must be completed in Skyward before the first day of school. All steps must be completed for your child to be fully enrolled and added to class lists. If you have a student entering Kindergarten, please make sure you are also completing the ASQ Survey during enrollment. Click here for full enrollment details. Reminder, all new and returning students are required to provide proof of residency to their child's school prior to the first day.

NEW this year: We will host an in-person enrollment fair for new students and families that need support on August 6th from 1 - 8 PM, and August 7th from 8 AM - 12 PM at Bonner Springs High School (100 McDanield St, Bonner Springs, KS 66012). Our enrollment fair will also be the opportunity to visit with representatives from our transportation and food service departments, learn about school and community resources, and school supplies will be available for those in need. School supply lists are available on our website

Important reminders:

  • Online enrollment must be completed on a desktop/laptop computer.

  • Fees are due by the first day of school but do not need to be paid to complete the enrollment forms.

  • All families are encouraged to complete the application for free or reduced lunch and meals.

  • Returning families will be required to provide a current utility bill (gas, water, or electric) to verify residency. This can be uploaded into Skyward.

  • Your child's enrollment won't be finalized until residency has been verified and ALL forms are completed.

Food Service
Families can complete the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) application through online enrollment in Skyward. All families are encouraged to complete the application, as many students will qualify for free or reduced meals and school fees. This year, we’re adding a new feature called Rooms to our district app. Rooms enables you to have two-way parent-teacher conversations and keep up with classroom announcements. With this, we have launched a new app and website! The app is available for download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Please note, this app is NEW, and if you downloaded the district app prior to July 1st you’ll need to remove the old one and add the latest version.

Our district app offers:

  • Live feed updates

  • District and school news

  • Upcoming events

  • Breakfast and lunch menus

  • Push notifications for important and urgent announcements

With Rooms, you’ll have access to even more exciting features like:

  • Two-way messaging with teachers, staff, and coaches

  • Classroom announcements, reminders about coursework, and materials

  • Behavior tracking for celebrating good behavior and academic achievement

  • Automatic translation

Parents/guardians will receive an invite to set up an account, and you'll just follow the link on your browser to create a login. After you’ve created your login, you can access Rooms through the USD 204 app. Once you’re there, you’ll see a toggle at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Just touch Rooms to get started. If you have multiple children attending our district, you’ll see them both listed in the menu section of Rooms.
